The Golden Gurus program has commenced (encouraging mature-age Australians to transfer their skills and experience by mentoring community organisations and small businesses).

Parliamentary Secretary for Social Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector, Senator Ursula Stephens, launched the national Golden Gurus program at the International Volunteers Day Awards ceremony at the Gold Coast.

Heta Inc is one of 30 plus overseeing bodies for the Golden Guru Programme in Australia .

Golden Gurus began on 1 January 2010 providing mature age Australians (aged 50 years and over) with a range of opportunities to support community organisations and small businesses.

The emphasis is on giving something back to the community.

Heta Inc is able to connect volunteers to individuals (including young people, people with a disability or the elderly), or pair them with community organisations to help the community organisation itself to grow.

Also connecting suitably skilled mature age people with small business owners as small business mentors. A small business mentor will not work for the business but will help the business owner with networking, to identify areas for business improvement, or to support self-development and growth.

The service is free for Golden Gurus, small businesses and community organisations.
