National Green Jobs Corps (NGJC)
NGJC is an Australian Government initiative that provides accredited training and work experience opportunities in the developing green skills and climate change industries.
What is the National Green Jobs Corps (NGJC) program?
NGJC projects run for 26 weeks with participants spending an average of 25 hours per week doing hands-on work experience and accredited training.
NGJC projects will focus on the conservation, protection and rejuvenation of the local environment or cultural heritage. The majority of projects will be team based activities developed in conjunction with local communities and groups to ensure local needs are met. Types of projects that participants may be involved in include:
bush regeneration
beach and dune rehabilitation
wildlife and fish habitat protection
flora, fauna and land surveys and audits
community consultation and surveys relating to the environment
training and hands-on experience in the installation of energy efficiencies designed to reduce carbon emissions, and
developing community information and education products.
Each project provides participants with the opportunity to develop teamwork and leadership skills while preparing for employment opportunities.
Who can participate?

How to get started on NGJC?
Job Services Australia (JSA) Referrals
As part of the referral process onto NGJC, participants may elect to volunteer to continue to receive services from your JSA provider. This will ensure participants are able to access support from both their JSA and NGJC provider for the duration of their participation.
Disability Employment Services (DES) Referrals
DES participants will be able to volunteer to concurrently participate in NGJC, where they are willing and able to participate for 15 hours per week. DES participants will not be suspended or exited from DES services and this will enable participants to access support from both their JSA and NGJC provider for the duration of their participation.
Centrelink Referrals
Job seekers who meet the eligibility criteria and wish to participate in NGJC are able to be referred to the program directly by Centrelink.
What training and support will participants receive?
Training (Accredited and Non-Accredited)
The training provided under NGJC is designed to provide opportunities to gain vocational skills tailored towards environmental and climate change growth or emerging environmental industries.
Career and Employment Pathway Support
Participants will be provided individual work preparation support which includes exploration and identification of career options, career advice, personalised action planning, job search support and linkages with employers and other service provider networks.
