Support Services for Injured Workers - Next Step
Next Step program is run by DFEEST who are under the Employers Mutual Workcover plan.
The Next Step program is coordinated by Heta Incorporated to provide employment support services to participants to enable them to become job ready and then broker them into employment.
The personalised services are designed to overcome the barriers to employment faced by recently injured workers in their search for employment.
At Heta, we will support participants of the program into meaningful employment by providing one-on-one support in the following areas:
Development of individual employment and training plans
Preparation of resumes
Development of interview skills
Training and employment advice
Addressing barriers to employment/engagement
Provision of employment brokerage
Determining where participants require additional support, ie, participation on work preparation project, additional tailored training.
We aim to:
Provide a constant support person in the participants life over their period of Case Management
Help increase the job readiness skills of each individual
Look at the skills the participant has, as well as their dreams, and develop a realistic plan to help them achieve their goals
Determine the skill level of participants and assess whether they would benefit from taking part in a Work Preparation Project
Working with the Employment and Training Plan, determine whether training is required, and assist the individual to find the most appropriate training pathway.
Participant outcome:
The client group accessing this project will be injured workers facing significant barriers to their return to work. For this reason, a number of outcomes have been identified for participants. The outcome for each Client will be assessed as being one of the following:
An Employment Outcome which is defined as a Client returning to paid employment for a minimum of 15 hours per week for a period of thirteen continuous weeks.
A Secondary Employment Outcome which is defined as a Client returning to paid employment for less than 15 hours per week or undertaking volunteer work.
A Training Outcome which is defined as a Client, although not returning to paid employment, engaging in training, either formally or informally outside of the program
