Navigation Tips

Access keys

Access keys are provided as for those with restricted mobility who are unable to use a mouse and are restricted to the use of the keyboard only. Access key strokes consist of ALT plus the access key on Windows computers and Control plus the access key on Macs. Windows users need to hit 'enter' to follow access key links, but the Mac access keys follow links automatically.

Access keys are defined as follows:

  • Access key A: 'About Heta' (i.e. ALT and A then ENTER)
  • Access key B: 'Our Services' (i.e. ALT and B then ENTER)
  • Access key C: 'Contact Us' (i.e. ALT and C then ENTER)
  • Access key D: 'Links' (i.e. ALT and D then ENTER)

  • In Internet Explorer the access keys are accessed by holding down the ALT key while hitting A, B, C, etc.
In Firefox you the only difference is that you need to hold down both SHIFT and ALT keys while hitting A, B, C, etc.
If you cannot use the menus at the top of the page, use these Access keys to access the pages of the site.

Pages of the website that have a navigation menu on the left-hand side such as the 'Our Services' and 'Contact Us' extend these access keys to include letters E, F, G, H, I, etc.

    Tab Index

Press the TAB key to navigate through all links & buttons on individual pages. Sections of each page have been coded in order to implement this type of sequential navigation. Pressing the TAB key will select certain buttons or links on the page in order from the top of the page to the bottom of the page. As you tab through the page the selected link is highlighted. Once you have made your selection, you will need to then hit 'enter' to activate the link.

On all pages the first four TAB entries (in the TAB index) are always the four Accessibility buttons: A+, A-, B & W (located at the top-right of each page) to allow quick access to these visual settings.

Should you accidentally Tab past the item you are wanting to select, you can go back up the list by holding down the SHIFT key as you Tab.

    Site Map

As an alternative, a Site Map has been created to enable the user to access all of the pages on the website from one place. This Site Map provides all of the content in a single list that can be 'Tabbed' through in a sequential order. It also gives visual overview of the content that of the website.
